Kenya
We have been working in Kenya for over two decades.
We began supporting orphaned Kenyan children in 1993, focussing on the northern district of Mandera – a region known for famine, drought, and high levels of food insecurity.
Our Kenya office opened in 2006, at the height of the drought in the Horn of Africa. Since then, we have been delivering development programmes to benefit vulnerable communities.
In 2010, we extended operations to Wajir county. In 2011 we extended again to include Garissa county, where we supported residents of Dadaab, the world’s largest refugee camp, as well as local communities.
Our emergency and development projects in the east African country include food and nutrition, education and child welfare, as well as water and sanitation. Projects also include livelihoods, disaster risk reduction and emergency response. We also promote environmental conservation as a means of improving resilience against natural disasters.
