Lebanon
Islamic Relief first started working in Lebanon in 2006, providing those affected by the Lebanon war with food, water and hygiene kits, and carrying out water and sanitation projects in the Tripoli area.
After the conflict, we continued working in Lebanon, concentrating in remote rural areas along the southern border, supporting war-affected people to rebuild their lives and communities. This included hospital rehabilitation and repairing damaged water facilities, as well as livelihood support. We also began working with Palestinian refugees coming into the country.
At the end of 2011, after the outbreak of the Syrian crisis, Islamic Relief started working with refugees from Syria, providing them with food and non-food items such as kitchen sets and blankets, and strengthening health, education and water and sanitation services. We also run psychosocial support programmes to help people come to terms with the trauma they have experienced. We continue to support refugees and the local Lebanese host community.
