I want to be a skilled tailor in the future
Saleha family left Daikundi province many years ago because of homelessness and she refused to leave her hometown. It has been six years since 28-year-old Saleha who is a beginner in tailoring live in Balkh Province, in the second section of Hussain Abad village which is a desert where she does not have access to electricity and potable water. Only six poor families live in this location as it is too far from the city and local city transport.
“I am much attached to the tailoring course and eagerly learn the tailoring skills, I walk 2 kilometers every day to reach the course,” Saleha says. “Just five families live near my house who are extremely poor and their poverty forces them to stay here. My major concern in my life is that due to poverty, my husband works in Samangan province, Dare –e –Soof district in a coal mine and he only comes once in a month. It is very difficult for me to pass the day – night without my husband with four kids in this dessert. I felt very happy when I enrolled in this course. For poor families like us, it was very difficult to pay the fees for sewing of clothes because the fees of tailoring is higher than the cost of textile. Since my enrollment in the course, I have learned a lot and I am able to sew a dress for me and my kids. I am very happy because I received tailoring materials from Islamic Relief Afghanistan which helps me to practice and learn more otherwise I would not be able to buy any of these materials due to my poverty. I would like to be a skilled tailor in the future and to financially help and support my family. I am very grateful to Islamic Relief and would like to express my sincere gratitude!
