Islamic Relief women’s empowerment projects commended by government officials
Islamic Relief Afghanistan (IRA) was recognised for its effective and well-coordinated women’s empowerment projects at an event arranged by local literacy forum, community elders and the education department of Bamyan province at the end of 2017. Islamic Relief was highlighted as one of the ‘top’ four organisations implementing the most effective programmes for literacy and women’s empowerment in the Bamyan region.
IRA’s ‘Home Based Education for Women in Afghanistan’ was singled out for its excellence with the Governor of Bamyan and the Deputy Minister of Education who visited programmes skills development and literacy classes and talked with students about their learning achievements. They also thanked Islamic Relief and restated their cooperation, support and hopes for further expansion of IRA programmes in Afghanistan.
